Dutch manufacturer DAF manged to get a very strong foothold on the
German market. Traditionally German companies are focusing first on local
manufactured brands. The sheer quality, driver acceptance, reliability and an
unmatched service organization convinced many operators to go Dutch.
This picture is showing a fine example, German dry bulk and roadtanker
specialist Alfred Talke is running this XF105 Space Cab. Traditionally
Talke is running Mercedes and MAN. Scania is the other foreign brand in
their fleet.
Austrian operator Gartner is huge. The company runs a verstaltiel fleet of
tautliners, reefers, cart transporters, trucks transport and road tankers. the
company headquarters is located in Lambach nearby Linz. MAN is dominating
their fleet for decades. This picture is showing a MAN TGX with the second
biggest XLX cab. The bigger XXl is more or less the fleet standard.
Roadtanker transport is weight sensitive, this is most likely the reason for the
cab choice.
Dutch operator Van Der Lee is traditionally strong on hauling acid with a
dedicated tanker fleet. Products like this are demanding a top discharge
roadtanker, this picture is showing one. Characteristic for a top discharge tank
are the huge roll bars. Another feature of an acid tanker can be the usage of
a rubber lining in the barrel. The tankbody can be made either of steel or
stainless steel. The Van Der Lee Volvo is a brand new one.
A DAF XF105 Super Space Cab in the Den Hartogh livery. The Volvo
dominated fleet is not that often trying other brands. A couple of years it
bought a large batch of MAN's but this didn't continue. The next, big,
orders were again Volvo. Nevertheless companies like Den Hartogh will
continue trying other brands to keep their preferred supplier sharp on
service and prize.
